Are you renewing your vows?

Nah. We got the boring part over with and now we can celebrate!!!

What time is the party?

The party will begin at 5:00pm and rage until 11:00pm.

Where is the party?

The party venue is the Jam Handy in Detroit, Michigan.

How do I get to the venue?

You may drive to the venue, which has parking in the rear, or take our complimentary shuttle from the Motor City Casino to the Jam Handy.

Will there be dinner?

Dinner will be served from 6:00pm-8:00pm. We will have the following food trucks: National Coney Island, Cosmic Burrito, and Rollin Stone Wood Fired Pizza. For dessert, there will be options of wedding cake, Saucy Joe’s Good Vibrations Gelato Truck, and the Donut Bar +Coffee food truck.

I’m vegetarian, vegan, and/or gluten-free, will there be food options for me?

Absolutely! We have vegetarian and gluten-free vegan options.

Will there be an open bar?

Yes! Miss Mixology will be bartending the event throughout the whole party! No cash necessary!

What is the dress code?

We love seeing you dressed your best! Please wear summer cocktail attire.

If you would like to participate in axe throwing, please wear closed-toe shoes.

What the heck is summer cocktail attire?

For masculine dressers – Nailing the men’s cocktail dress code usually involves a lightweight and well-tailored suit in a light color or a linen blazer with dress pants. They can pair it with a complementing dress shirt, tie or bowtie, folded pocket square, and leather dress shoes or loafers to elevate the look.

For feminine dressers – Outfit options include summer cocktail dresses (of course!), a skirt or dressy pants with a blouse, or a jumpsuit in lighter fabrics like cotton, chiffon, or silk. For most summer events, you can also ramp up the color and go for alluring details like peekaboo cutouts and shorter hemlines. Accessorize with jewelry, a clutch or shoulder bag, and heels or dressy sandals.

What shoes should I wear?

Please wear closed-toe shoes so you can participant in axe throwing.

What are we doing from 5:00pm until dinner is served?

There will be plenty of super fun activities available for your entertainment!

Do I have to dance?

Yes. ;-)

Can I bring my kids?

Sorry, all guests need to be at least 21 years old.

Can I take pictures?

Yes! Please share all of your pictures from the event on our Google photo album #VanAsscheBash. We will also have a professional photographer and videographer.

Can I bring a gift?

Your presence is present enough! However, we do have a honeymoon registry! If you insist on giving us a material gift, please mail it directly to us. You can find our mailing address on the home page.

What happens at 11:00pm?

We will start cleaning up, but we’ll meet you at Motor City Casino for the after party by midnight!!!!

I’m flying into town, what airport should I fly into?

We recommend flying into Detroit Metro Airport (DTW).

Where should I stay?

We have a hotel block of 35 rooms reserved at Motor City Casino. Please visit our travel and accommodations page for more information on how to reserve a room.

Do I have to stay at Motor City Casino?

No, however, we will have a complimentary shuttle at Motor City Casino to bring you to and from the venue and you will receive a discount for booking in our hotel block. Regardless of accommodations, please use city street smarts and vigilance when traveling to and from the venue or other area attractions.
